We use  Beef Bouillon cubes (the ones with the cow on the label) They don't contain any whey.  Also note... not all caramel color contains a milk derivative... caramel does... but not necessarily caramel color.. you call call the mfg and check... that's what I do... might just be ok.  Good luck
