Jan I don't question at all that it's great for your kid. But there are
many that are just hanging in limbo ... they don't have the horrible
dissabilities that warrant drastic measures.

AND I believe that a lot of kids that are tube fed could be getting MUCH
better nutrition than what is out there. It's just a lifesaver ... and I
honor that. But I don't stop at 'survival'.

I've worked with DD kids for 25 years so I speak from some experience. I
see kids all day long that get stuff that yeah keeps em alive and stops the
rumination perhaps but just sutains them.

If there were some more healthful choices out there ... well it's kind of
like my angel. She was screaming all the time. Answer? Drugs. HEAVY
drugs. No one looked at WHY she was crying. (milk) Took the milk away
and poof no more screaming. And of course I'm no Doctor.

Immediately almost overnight she could make eye contact. She joined our
world.

Now she's developing so well ... but I can SEE her little body trying to
process even the Progestimil ... energy she could be using to learn.
Wasted time.

Now we go to a sugar based chemical product yes she might do better in one
area ... but she will NOT be operating at her full potential ... which is
my desire for her in these most delicate important unreturnable years.

And it's not my desire to have her trade one thing (her difficulty now) for
another (blood sugar problems) later on.

I'm delighted you've found your answer for your child. I just want more.

Different.

Better.

And I'll demand it in the marketplace until I get it. There is too much at
stake in my humble opinion.

And thank you for yours!

Love,

Amy

I just don't get it ... why does not someone make a formula that's just
healthy ... not sweet ... or full of all kinds of chemicals *sigh*

>I am not a chemist but I am a strong believer in Neocate. This formula is
a lifeline for many children. Before switching to Neocate my son vommitted
10-12 times a day. He was covered with excema to the point that he had
oozing scabs on his face, head and chest. He was hospitalized for
dehydration and was suffering terribly. The sweeteners make the formula a
little more palatable. The alternative to having a child drink it is a
feeding tube. Believe me, my son has had a feeding tube, I would rather
take my chances with the sweeteners.

>Regarding the chemicals, there are children who can not tolerate ANY form
of protein. Neocate breaks the protein chain down to it's most basic form,
amoni acids. For these children this is the only way they can receive
nutrition.

some children this is a lifesaver.
