Previemente io ha citate mi Webster's in INFOPEDIA pro le caso de meliorate
e "ameliorate".  Le discussion continuite de iste question ha ducite me a
cercar un mesmo plus grande dictionario Webster's que cita le sequente
pro le origine de "ameliorate":  [L. _amelioratus_, pp. de _ameliorare; ad +
meliorare].

Le IED cita [a-] como un prefixo verbal usate con verbos e in combination
con suffixos verbal, con substantivos e adjectivos pro indicar "verso", "a"
"a in" (exprimente motion a, mutation a, crescimento de intensitate". P.e.
"abatter", "abassar", "amortir",
"amover", "amusar", "amassar", etc.
