Another e-mail from one of my sources in Banjul.

Ebrima Ceesay

_______________________________________________________________

Hello Ebrima,

A month ago, I was informed by a colleague of Yaya Jammeh's intention or
desire to amend the New Constitution in order to extend the current
presidential term from 5 to 7 years. However, I did not take it to be a
serious matter then, but not any more.

Ebrima, this makes it all the more urgent to get Pap Cheyassin Secka on line
- on the L - so that I can ask him what is "that file" doing on his desk.
I'll give him the Ref number.

You see, Ebrima, the APRC is now convinced that there is no way they can win
the next municipal, legislative and presidential elections in 2000 and 2001.

The environment under which the 1996 elections were held, which made it
possible to intimade the then Provisional Independent Electoral Commission
led by Gabriel Roberts at the time, no longer obtains and the people are
more than determined that it remains so, come hell or high water.

After the cold-blooded murder of those defenseless children on the 10 and 11
May, 2000, the climate of fear dissipated like the smoke from the AK47s of
the security forces.

Now, being convinced of the mood of the people for a "change", the extension
of the current term of Yahya Jammeh from 5 to 7 years is becoming a real
option to him. Ebrima, this sounds illogical or stupid, but believe me, Yaya
Jammeh has indeed ordered his Attorney General to see how this could be
achieved. The file is on Cheyassin Secka's table.

Ebrima, this is why it is significant that Pap Cheyassin subscribe to
Gambia-L, so that I can ask him questions, through you, and also give him
the reference number of "that file."

Anyway, we in the Civil Service are all waiting to see what his legal advise
will be on this one. I hope the AG will be on line soon so that we can put
this and other questions to him.

Nothing is beyond monster Yaya Jammeh's imagination; remember when he asked
former SG Bensouda to dissolve the National Assembly, who in turn, told him
that the National Assembly instead has the power to fire him, Yahya, and not
the other way around.

May Allah The Almighty continue to protect us from these devils.
Thank you and continue to keep the fire burning.

Thanks!
