 Omar & Sheikh Tejan,

Thanks for this exchange that is informative for all of us.
This underscores the importance of good relations between The Gambian and Senegal so that even if the size of our population does not make for good investments prospects for those investigating in the operation of  international flights especially if landing fees and fuel prices are also a factor, Gambian investors can be encouraged to invest in the operation of reliable connection flights from Dakar to Banjul as well as other destinations in the sub-region. This way, we can enjoy frequent, safe and reliable connections that are coordinated with the arrival of major airlines flying into Dakar.
I also hope that the GIA will consider the fact that making profits is important but that sometimes you have to accept less profit to stay in business. Perhaps GIA can invest in the operation of these connecting flights in cooperation with major airlines coming into Dakar as partners but I am always for giving Gambians the opportunity to benefit from investments that generate profit from our country, so Gambian entrepreneurs should be encouraged to invest in this. The government also needs or learn that encouraging private sector investment benefits Gambia and Gambians only when it is Gambians and not foreigners who make up the bulk of the investors in any industry and that the more they encourage this, the more tax revenue they can generate.
Rgds,
Jabou Joh

Omar ,
I forgot to mention that the sustainability of
operating a flight is dependent on the load factor and
the size and population of our destination ,it is
difficult for airline to make a break even if they
operate a schedule Carrier to the Gambia alone.
Operating to the U.S or from the U.S to The Gambia is
sustainable only if you have a second destination or
enough cargo to or from the Gambia.
