The Spider Walls
In the dark room of the cell
the spiders netted long strings
from the ceiling to the bare floor
while jail cracks widens
to friendly spider walls
iconic Mandela with longer nights
and shorter days
for twenty-seven odd years
breathing heavily
and aiming higher
for a day of rejoicing
-the South Africa's Independence
by the ANC.
The poem is dedicated to Nelson Mandela of South Africa, and it is also extended in tribute to the late Steve Biko, Walter S. (patriot of the patriots), and all those pushing for freedom, equality and justice.
