Brother Oko D,

Indeed, I also think you need to get back to Brother Joe Sambou. I have
known you since the days of Sahara and CP of the mid seventies and though I
have met Badou Jobe just a couple of times, I have been keenly involved in
bringing the IfangBondi to Stockholm on two occasions during the 80s. It is
a shame that the two of you should be grinding down one another in this
manner.

On the whole, I have no problems with your appointment by president Jammeh,
although I have serious reservations about your ideas of cultural toursim.
In a former response to brother Sheikh Tejan you maintained that
"prostitution has nothing to do with class", an assertion I simply cannot
swallow. I would have taken you to task on that but for lack of time. (I
hope you are aware that young Gambian girls are making a living as virtual
sex-workers in many cities in Europe including Las Palmas and Stockholm,
just to name two! In the 1980's Gambian girls willingly posed for Danish
tourists colouring up the mid pages of a popular nude magazine. I wrote a
story myself about that in the Gambia Newsletter).

All the same, your role as cultural ambassador hopefully would serve Gambia
well. But I am also concerned that you chose not to inform us yourself about
your appointment. Are you not proud of it? For your information, I tried to
browse the links sent by Badou Jobe but obviously it is down for the moment.
Your own
http://www.africanmusicfestival.com/business/okodrammeh.asp is also down.
What is going on Brother O?

Respect,
Sidibeh
