Gambian president reshuffles Cabinet

Banjul, Gambia - President Yahya Jammeh appointed 12 new Cabinet members
on Friday, one day after dissolving a 16-member Cabinet, state media
reported.

Ten ministers returned to their posts. Most notable among the changes was
Foreign Affairs Minister Lamin Kaba Bajo, was replaced by Maba Jobe, a
former commander of Gambia's armed forces.

The four portfolios that have yet to be filled are justice, trade and
industry, tourism and public works.

Jammeh secured a third five-year term during the nation's presidential
vote September 22.

Jammeh first ascended to power in a 1994 coup. He has ruled Gambia for 12
years, winning other polls in 1996 and 2001 that opposition groups said
were rigged. The country has no term limits for the presidency. - Sapa-AP
