I will conduct a series of conversations on Tribalism in the coming days
that may be of value to Gambians, Africans, and all humanity. I will therefore
appreciate it if Galleh, JDAM, Suntou, Pa Nderry, Yero, Jambang, Saloum, Ginny,
or Laye can forward these conversations, and this leader, to our friends at
Posten, whoever is first able to forward it. Yero, if you choose to forward
these conversations, try to forward it without adding your own commentary at
first. You can comment on it after you forward it. The act of forwarding the
conversations is the favor I solicit at this time. I want to thank the
forwarders in advance.

Fellow forumites,

I am pleased to be with you again. The subject of Tribalism and its
attendant dis-eases, have been the bane of constricted growth and value-life in many
of the world's civilizations and persisted through the ages. Yet the problem
seems intractable for most well-meaning folk. It is my concern that the
almost abstract nature of tribalism will rob us of opportunities to develop our
families and societies more valuably.

I therefore will engage in these conversations which will be adhoc and of
limited duration in order that I may not take up much of your reading and
reflection time. I had an opportunity once before to address tribalism when our
friend Joe interpreted as tribalist, a comment Banka alleged that I made about
AGERA. to wit:

AGERA is an organisation of ndongos.

I regret and apologise that I failed to treat the matter more
comprehensively beyond my primal instincts of self-vindication. for consolation, I
recognised the shortcoming in perspective on tribalism and the apparent futility is
yielding value amid charged ambiance.

Most recently, our other friend Yero alleged I am tribalist because in my
disdain of his mentor, fellow tribesman, and heritage newspaper Gainako, for
his aversion of me, I SAID:

I don't need shepherds Demba.

It might be that Yero, a young and industrious man with an impressionable
mind, and since Joe's allegation, had been trained on Haruna to determine one
way or the other that Haruna is tribalist and therefore employ schemes to
certify that allegations. OR that Haruna is indeed tribalist.

But whether or not Haruna is tribalist, you may agree with me that any
worthwhile conversation on the subject of tribalism must move beyond Haruna being
tribalist. That will yield more value to the remainder of societies than the
mere disdain for Haruna. This is because if Haruna is tribalist, society is
none the better when Haruna dies or withers away into oblivion because you
might very well have other tribalists in your midst sans Haruna. This after you
identify what a tribalist is. I often say that folk substitute tribalism
conveniently for FEAR and CRIME. There could be some merit in that discernment.
Afterall, you would remain clueless if you do not know what "tribalism" is.

I afforded an interview to Freedomnewspaper recently on the heels of the
barrage of assaults directed at the newspaper for insinuating that Yahya was
"Tribalist". I encourage all of you to look at that interview again at
_www.freedomnewspaper.com_ (http://www.freedomnewspaper.com) or in her archives. The
editor of the newspaper was engaged in certifying the paper's claim that
"Yahya is tribalist" by sharing with us the proportion of Jolas Yahya appoints to
high offices in Gambia. And Yahya is of Jola persuasion. In that interview,
and when Pa asked me if I agree that Yahya was tribalist, I responded that I
am informed that is the claim Freedom was trained on certifying. I think when
and if Pa Nderry concludes his investigation, he will come to the conclusion
as I have, that yahya is not a tribalist but a garden variety criminal. One
problem Pa will run into, after he collects the empirical data of the number
of Jolas Yahya appointed to high office in Gambia, will be that he will find
it near impossible to correlate Yahya's crimes with "Yahya is tribalist".
This is because Pa cannot identify tribalism in anyone. Not even Yahya, or
Hitler, or Musolini, or Karadzic.

In these conversations with you, I hope I achieve two things:

1. To share with you the value of properly identifying our problems in order
that we may be stood in the proper stead to solve them.

2. To help yield the requisite focus so that we may be minimally distracted
by ignorance and miscellaneous greed.

These thoughts form the foundation of the actionable concepts in The Global
Democracy Project. We will be delighted to have your company and
participation. You may visit with us there at _www.thegdp.wordpress.com_

I want to thank you in advance of your audience and I want the knucklehead
George to know that this is a limited engagement and that he will not have me
at Posten for longer than that. Eat your friggin heart out George. If you
want to hear me longer, you can subscribe to Ellen. And I encourage those of you
at Posten to cross-register at Ellen just like the multitude of your Posten
friends are. The more the merrier.

Most Sincerely Haruna.
