Yus and Beran,
Please, I just hate to see this exchange going on. I am sure that you are
both trying to do your very best, at all times, and are concerned about your
country and the condition of the people living back home.
Even though I don't know you both personally, it still makes me feel bad to
see this going on.
I have been fortunate to meet some wonderful people from The Gambia and also
have the joy and honor of giving birth to a Gambian-American son and being 8
months pregnant with another, Gambian American baby. When I have been
fortunate enough to meet someone from your country, I am always so amazed by
their accomplishments despite the conditions that they had to face in order
to get to where they are today or, just selflessly giving up seeing their
families for years to send money home to make their families life more
tolerable. Just the love and care shown for one another is inspiring. I
have really learned the definition of community and extended family through
them.
There is so much to discuss, learn from each other and I am crossing my
fingers that you will both promise me to stop where you are at and focus on
giving us your views on the issues that The Gambia faces and not waste your
energies going down this path. Life is short.
Perhaps it is none of my business, but I really do care about my new G-L
family.

I wish you and everyone a peaceful EID.
Sincerely,
Halima S.

Njok!
i certainly understand where you are coming from. Lets put it this way,
this
treacherous human being taught me many important lessons. But one which
stands foremost in my mind is that in life one has to be extremely careful
who you put around you. Some folks are truly wicked and disgruntled folks.
Anyone who has met me personally will tell you that I am one of the nicest
and most unassuming folk they have ever met. But this is besides the pt for
now:

I talked to someone I know in DC last nite and I asked him whether he knew
this wicked character. He did dnot know at first but when I said "Wang"
computers he remembered.

He was like, "is it an older balding (lel) fellow with buckteeth (bonyi
conkare) who was in The Gambia after a long sting in America only to return
after a failed computa venture!" Well, I figured since there was only one
Gambian who was distributing those computers, it had to be Beran. He
continued by saying, "yeah in fact he fixes computers for the Halal meet
place here."

By the time he finished his last sentence the man had piqued my interest and
in my minds eye view, I could start to imagine what would make a man who was
one of the earliest computer distributors in The Gambia walk around with
such
a large chip on his shoulder

Since today is EID, I'll wait till tomorrow to postulate how bad business
sense, bad understanding of IT trends, and just sheer & utter stupidity
cost
Beran Jeng his computer bizness back home.

More to come
