Omar,

Jammeh contradicts conventional wisdom because he has an egotistical disposition- a lone wolf on a mission. This bias in Jammeh is a permanent psychological blind spot or a "scotoma": self-concern above everybody else; and the "big picture" for the common good of society is dispensable as long as his myopic interest is served. This is why Jammeh can never be humble to admit mistakes, and seek forgiveness or help for his errors. Jammeh subconsciously believes that the people that arguably elected him into office are very ungrateful to be even critical of his policies much more his person.
Jammeh only reacts "positively" if his ego is threatened...the recent pressure from the IMF is a quintessential example. He is so absorbed into himself that he will do everything on this planet to make himself look good: either sacrifice his subalterns to win public opinion or use violence to cover up his mesh.

E.

PS: Alhajj Mustapha, I have received your voice message from my wife. I have been on campus all day. Please call again anytime tonite or tomorrow morning.
