Excuse the typos:

Uncle Soutou,

Thanks and all the incoming good advice and criticisms are HIGHLY WELCOMED.

As I said the end justifies the means. The Kanilai Farmer is free to take the credit for my film industry (GAFCV) project as part of his "economic super power plans."

Even if he wants the Film Village to be located in Kanilai, no problem. The most important thing is that I have our film industry on the ground.

I am not lobbying for Government job or contract. He and the sharks do not understand the film business. So even if they hijack or sabotage it, it will not ruin me.

The reality is that with such kinds of projects one needs Government support. Hollywood has always been getting US Government backing to grow and the practitioners managed to use AMERICAN PATRIOTISM, WAY OF LIFE and AMERICA DREAM as successful business models, regardless of who is the President of the day.

Blockbusters like PEARL HARBOUR and countless ones before it would not have succeeded without the regular full backing of the US Deparment of Defence. The current movie project on the killing of OSAMA BIN LADEN is being supported by Obama's White House in one way or the other. There are other examples.

Film is being used by other countries to promote their SOFT POWER, CULTURE and COMPETITIVE INTELLIGENCE. The Chinese Authorities are supporting their film villages of Shangai and Hong Kong, the Japanese are doing it. The South Koreans are on it. The Indian Authorities have been doing it. The Nigerian Federal Government is also responding to the needs of Nollywood.

I need not mention EUROPEAN COUNTRIES like Germany and France that have long established public-private partnerships in film industry development.

I have been in touch with a lot entities and they told me they can best cooperate if I operate from a developing country as the Western markets are getting saturated. As a patriot, I decided to give our Gambia the first shot. If it does not work, I will move to another developing country.

Of course the women will support me. They constitute the biggest market for showbiz and creative products. I will make tailor-made products (films, TV drama, stage, etc) for their taste.

Over time, I am sure more people including the usual doubting Thomases could come on board when they like. Let me just prove myself first by carrying the cross to Golgotha without pestering any Peter. By then all the SAFETY FREAKS who want to come in when things are safe could participate.

The only thing keeping me away from Gambia is the GREENLIGHT FROM THE OFFICE OF THE PRESIDENT. Nothing works in the Gambia wihout Jammeh's okay nowadays.

The Government officials from the various ministries who have been in touch with me behind-the-scenes told me they are waiting for THE ORDER FROM HIM before I can fly down for firm commitments and ground operations.

I am already in procress of creating THE GAMBIA FILM AND CREATIVE INDUSTRY ASSOCATION (GAMFCIA) as an umbrella collective bargaining group. The constitution is being processed and hopefully my mid-March 2012 the registration with the Attorney-General's Chambers, National Council for Arts and Culutre, National Youth Council, etc., will be concluded so that it can be launched by the time I join my pioneer team on the ground.

Already Gambians who are in some form of audio visual profession in Europe and USA have expressed interest in being part of my project. But am not forcing or begging them.

A GENUINE PRINCE DOES NOT BEG. The fact that I am working on the architectural design and the GAMFCIA collective bargaining group without waiting for President Jammeh's greenlight, proves that I am not begging him.

I will repeatedly emphasise the benefits of my Gambia Film Village (GAFCV) Project to his HIS IMAGE and our Cultural/Creative Economy in the medium and long-term without the irrational praise-singing and begging. My vocabulary will be guided by official protocols on the ground.

NAWARI,

Prince BA Sankanu
