AGECS - Association of Gambians in Engineering and Computer Science
Mission statement of AGECS
AGECS stands to provide a forum where Gambians and non-Gambians alike
can share and exchange technical information and other useful data and
resources to advance themselves.
AGECS was started in 2001 by a small group of Gambians residing in the
US and Europe.
The organization started modestly with the setting up of a discussion
group on Yahoo!. The link to the group which is no longer active is here
AGECS. It is against this backdrop that we thought it prudent to revive
this important organization through the setting up of this website.
The objectives of AGECS are:
• Encourage Gambian students to study scientific subjects and pursue
studies in engineering and computing • Promote public understanding and
acceptance of science education• Assist schools and students involved in
science education • Provide for discussion of subjects and problems in
the promotion of engineering and computing in the Gambia.• Provide a
medium for the distribution and sharing of information and technical
materials.• Promote partnerships between Gambian academic institutions
and their foreign counterparts to promote technology transfer and share
information.• To act as a platform to bring together qualified Gambians
abroad to discuss and share experiences• Encourage all individuals and
organizations interested in furthering Engineering and computing
knowledge to apply for membership
