NO TO THE BARBERISM OF WAR

Now we know that America will be doing all that it has always wish to do, that
is to go to war. Many have said before that, not even the UN will ever be able
to stop the warmongers in Washington. What is also perhaps increasing the
worries of many of us is the promised that this war will be short and quick.
What this means is to look at Afghanistan, a nation that is more on the verge
of disintegrating with her many war lords and women still kept in prison for
daring to demand divorce. It was here that the smart bombs see the enemy in
every Afghan, from weeding guest to Red cross ware house, living, most likely
more dead of women and children than the number of soldiers who died in that
war or the numbers of September 11 victims. It is this barbarism that we are
asked to accept as the logics of war and we are refusing to do so. Our
opposition to the dictator in Baghdad began at a time when they (Washington
her allies) were not only dining and wining with him but also arming him to
wage war against his people and neighbours, we refused to let them dictate our
opposition against the dictator, we are with the genuine opposition forces of
Iraq who are also against this imperialist war. It is no hidden fact that, no
one but Rumsfield himself, who between 1983 and 84,has been active in helping
Saddam to acquire weapons of mass destruction. Were he and the rest in
Washington expecting that Saddam was going to hang all these weapons of
mass-destructions in his house as a souvenir or an evidence of his good
relationship with Washington? When Kurds were brutally murdered with these
weapons, it was no one but the War College institute in the US that was trying
to spread the lies that it was possibly the Iranian who committed those
atrocities. It is this hypocrisy that the Leader of the Left Socialist party
in Norway was recently reminding the far right leader in Parliament, that when
after the massacre of the Kurds, their was a world wide campaign to boycott
arms sales to Saddam and he among others voted against the resolution banning
the sales of arms to Saddam in the Norwegian parliament. This hypocrite
insisted that the reason by then was that every body was selling arms to
Saddam and that it will be stupid for Norway not to do so to protect jobs in
the military industry. True, true, this is also the logic of the war in
Irag. This is why the Polish, the Romanians etc have all made it clear to the
US that their support for the war should give them a share of the cake.
France, Germany and Russia are not necessarily angels of Peace, all of them
have been arming Iraq and they too have both political and economic interest
in toeing the anti war line. Non of them, from Washington to Paris, non, has
ever apologised to the Kurdish people for their contribution to those criminal
acts, what Washington and others are doing now is to make sure that the
struggle of the Kurds be contained during the war.
The logic of this war and many others that Washington is
involved inn are all calculated actions meant to maintain a world order under
the command of US global interest and those who believed that it was September
11 that fuelled this war mongering in Washington, might not have known that
before that event Rumsfield had engaged himself in another assignment, as
this;
“…Curiously, shortly before September 11,2001 Defence secretary Rumsfield
commissioned a study of ancient empires to figure out how they attained
dominance. Luminaries like Bernard Lewis helped write this August 2001 report,
which studied the history of the Mongol, Chines and Roman empires. The report
concluded that history shows that while U.S.military power is essential to
maintain empire,”it must also maintain its preeminence across the other”.
(Peter Hudis/3.9.03)

All this shows that there is more to this war than the lies these warmongers
are parading. These are the historic straight lines that Mandela was also
pointing out, which unfortunate many of us could neither see nor understand.
In his opposition to the war, Mandela said:

“Fifty-seven years ago, when Japan was retreating from all fronts, they decided
to drop the atom bomb on Hiroshima and Nagasaki, killed a lot of innocent
people, who are still suffering from the effects of those bombs…Those bombs
were not aimed against Japan, they were aimed against the soviet Union”

Without knowing the truth, you can hardly take Mandela serious, that human
beings are capable of such barbarism just for the show of power. But if you
hear the British nuclear Physicist and Nobel laureate, Joseph Rotblat, who
took part in the Manhattan project, that produced the bombs dropped in
Hiroshima and Nagasaki, and who was so convinced that his participation in
this project was to stop Nazi Germany, only after to be told that it was
otherwise, you will then understand Mandela, listen to Rotbalt;

“…With this background, you can imagine my shock when General
Leslie Groves, the overall boss of the Manhatan project, said in a private
conversation;” you realise of course, that the main purpose of the project is
to subdue the Russians..”

Even were as we take the words of these warmongers, that this war is not about
oil, we are yet to be convince that Baghdad is more a threat to world peace
than the US itself, arrogantly refusing to abide by international laws by
allowing the UN to decide if to disarm the dictator peacefully or by force.
All that we know now is that, with the sanctions gone and with American
re-colonisation of the country, being the present plan of Washington, the
question of the oil will surface from the very moment the occupation starts.
Adam Zagorin in the Time issue of February 17,indicated that Iraq’s oil
reserves are conservatively estimated at 112 billion bbl and that the reserves
could cover the current US oil import needs for almost a century. However with
the US economy in so deep a crisis, Bush and the “house nigger”will soon have
to face their own people with realities that do not need “inspectors” to find
out, ie the unemployment and social decadence that so much depressed the
conscience of millions of Americans, who are demanding in their streets “Jobs
and not Bombs”, but as Peter Hudis said;

“Nonetheless, Bush pushes ahead, oblivious to all this .He doesn’t seem likely
to follow the example of the Song Empire of the 12th century China, which
dolled out thousands of tons of silk and silver each year to the Khitai and
Tangut empires of north and west China in order to keep peace, while insisting
that the Song Emperor alone possessed the “Mandate of heaven”. No, in apt
words of the ex-Marxist who now serves as the foreign Minister of Mexico,
Jorge Castaneda, Bush wants” the whole enchilada”. He wants total U.S global
dominance and treat any limits to it as just one more barrier to be overcome”

Washington is still not saying clearly how long it intents to rule Baghdad,
and even belittle the criminals they put together (together with London) as
the true Leaders of the Iraq People. What is perhaps more clear is that, these
so-called Leaders have no legitimacy within the majority of the Iraq
opposition both inside and out side. It was this reason why a leading
opposition exile, Abdel Jabar al-kubaisi, in an interview with the daily Class
struggle, February 12,pointed out that the motive of both Washington and
London is not to see a free and democratic Iraq, had this not been the case no
one would not have failed to see the criminal lined up in the Iraqi National
Congress (INC). They are all criminals, he insisted He pointed out that Ahmed
Chalabi (an ex-bank man in Jordan), the leader of the organisation is
sentenced in absentee, to 22 years in Jordan for his part in a financial
scandal at the Petra Bank of Jordan (this man is claiming that it was Saddam
who called for the closure of the Bank), Hussain Shaillan another leader of
this group was involved in a bank robbery that killed two people, Husain
al-shawi was sentence in London for economic scandal, Salem Shukri zaki, the US
economic adviser for Iraq and part of the leadership, was sentence to 280
years (In absentee) in the emirates for economic scandals,Wafig aal-Zamaria
was the chief intelligence office of Saddam Hussein ,who is known in Iraq as
nothing but a murderous torturist, etc. But no one knows better than the US
itself, the CIA was paying US$326,000 monthly to this criminal
organisation(The INC insisting that it was US$200,000) and which has amounted
to 10-16 million of US tax payers money (depending on which figure one
operates with),and up to this day the INC is not able to account for this
money .However, they are now quarrelling with each other, the INC is now aware
that Washington needed them only for her campaign and with that they can dine
and wine at the white House, but that period is over and Washington is
looking on Adnan Pachachi, a former Iraqi foreign minister exiled after 1968
as the puppet who will lead the Washington administration in Baghdad.
Many in the anti-war movement are without doubt hoping now that no soldier
will be willing to die for the dictator, this is perhaps the only way out for
the millions of Iraqi people, this is perhaps the only way out to avoid the
“holocaust” that Mandela predicted. Washington is telling us that they know
the dictator is positioning his military in populated areas (how true this is,
we don’t know) but what Washington is not telling us is that they will not go
for them in these area, but what we know is that they have a history of
warfare that does not take heed to the lives of the innocent and no matter
what, we refused to accept the barbaric logic of this war soon to start.
