Yahya Jammeh may be a strong man – that too is relative. Yahya Jammeh is ONE man, has a soul (one) and a vote (one). His life should not be regarded as more worthy of heaven than all those who have died in or out of Mile 2.

It is not right that 40 prisoners should DIE in Gambian jails, due to a lack of proper medical attention, malnutrition and poor sanitary conditions whilst Dr. Jammeh is so busy neglecting their lives, in favour of saving only the lives of the HIV-Aids stricken.

It is also NOT right that anybody should be afraid to speak out or criticise Mr. Jammeh for fear of winding up in prison like Ngoh Nelson Mandela, but only to die there, of neglect.

I should also like to point out for the president’s benefit, that if in the future he is going to be deposed by the influence from outside, I can see a crack in the armoury of his security. He has opened himself up to more attention, more scrutiny, by showing the kind of man he is through his healing activities about which most scientists are sceptical. Should HIV-Aids continue to increase in the Gambia, he will partly be held responsible by WHO and others, so he had better start attending to the health requirements of ALL Gambians, and not only those who are suffering from asthma or dying of Aids. Gambians should be able to enjoy security and not live in fear. The Gambian government’s duty is to create a better life and security for all Gambians and the president should not forget that for his activities of 22nd July 1994, he himself could have been properly ex-ecuted. So, he should practice mercy to his own brothers and sisters of the Gambia, if he wants the Almighty to practice patience and forbearance with him.
