Folks:

Contrary to what is been pedalled on the web, the official July 4th soccer
tourney will be played at Therrell HS. under the auspicies of the new
Atlanta Gambian Community Org(AGCO). The position of the new Org. remains
the same:

a) We refuse to allow the commercialization of the July 4th. by any
individual or group(s). Our out of state folks shed off on the average
$200-$300 just to get here. As I promised at the Ijahmann show at last July
4th.; we're putting OUR FOOT DOWN!

b) We refuse to let the soccer tournament and players be used in any
fashion. Allowing the tournament to be moved and then turn around and empty
the stadium to charge the same players $20-$25 to get back in and see Alieu
Mbye Nderr is unacceptable. Reports have it that this group had intended to
charge up to $50, thanks to the emergence of AGCO; for we have really
exposed them.

c) Albeit all our efforts on three different occasions going back two months
to talk to them, they finally caved in this past weekend with some cooked up
proposal that goes as follows:
-AGCO to drop all its programs/parties
-Baboucarr Sillah to coordinate all the programs at their Adams stadium
-Some? of the Alieu Mbye Nderr proceeds after their expenses(managing their
loses?) to be given back to the community.

Ladies and gentlemen, tell me if this is genuine? If they were sincere and
ready to negotiate they would have been willing to be more reasonable with
their said proposal that was as good as toilet paper at our weekend meeting.
Never be fooled by GRO, this people are only in this for their pockets and
nothing else! All this talk about raising funds for the families of the
shooting victims will not go anywhere, this was one of the reasons why Musa
Jeng, Solomon Sylva and myself left that group, their refusal to send money
back home for the flood victims! Karamba Touray and the others have their
Massacre Action Plan in place since April, did they send any contributions?
Alasan Jah's apartment just caught fire few weeks ago, what did they do?
Nothing! AGCO took out $300 from funds generated among its members and gave
it to the Jah family. This shouldn't be the place to bring out these things
but we are tired of this old 'Banjul style' of politics. The sad thing is,
you will never see the real characters behind GRO to show their faces in
places like the G-L, because they know better.

d) We are willing to go the distance against these elements, we will not
drop anything...our programs go as planned. Hopefully after this weekend
sanity will prevail over all egocentric endevors and perhaps our community
will NEVER be taken for granted.

Regards,
Baboucarr Sillah
