I do not know if this whould be specific to females, but I went from about
12% BF to 6% while GAINING ten pounds (I gained alot of muscle and lost alot
of fat) by doing a fairly ketogenic diet. I keep my protein high (at least
1g/kg bw) and added to this nuts, seeds and literally pounds of greens every
day. Professor Devany seems to do well incorperating a fair amount of fruit
into his diet. In the winter the fewer carbs I consume the better I do. I
live in seattel and it may have to do with different climates or simply
individual differences. As to grains and dairy...I never consume wheat my
mother has celiac and although i do not yet continued exposure could be a
problem. I occasionaly have some raw goat cheese or yogurt. technicly not
paleo but I feel good while eating it and I do not make it a regular thing.
If you are really wanting to lean out get into the gym 2-3 times a week
working squats, rows, presses dead lifts, multijoint movements. Outside of
that walk, play frisbie, be active in a variety of ways which keeps you
interested but which does not exaust you. Short intense workouts seem to be
the trick. I hope professor Devany releases his book soon, I am thinking
about writing one myself. take care & good luck!
