Again I've checked online for information and been astounded by what I've
read.  On one site, several people posted their "Paleo diets," and one guy
wrote about eating two pounds of meat during the course of one day.  That's
the meat in eight quarter-pounders!

I can grasp eating a lot of eggs more than I can eating two pounds of meat
a day.  It has to do with the cost.  Eating good quality meat is an
expensive propostion.  Eggs are less expensive.

Beans and rice are even less expensive.  I now understand the problems
associated with them, but they have seen me through many hard times.  I am
a little worried that upping my meat intake will severely affect my bank
account sooner or later.  Other things might break the bank, too.

It's great to be able to buy lots of fresh fruit and veggies in the summer,
but without filling bread, pasta, and potatoes, I have to eat a lot more
and a lot more often to keep from feeling that I'm starving to death.

Today, I quadrupled my intake of eggs and tripled my intake of fruit and
veggies, and I'm afraid that the groceries which normally would last me
four or five days will begone in two or three.  I find this a little scary.

One thing that bothers me about so many programs for health improvement is
the amount of money required.  If one is upper middle class, one can afford
the organically grown food and scientifically sophisticated supplements and
high-tech weightlifting equipment.  Otherwise, forget it.
