An interesting observation:
I have done paleo on and off for several years now. I have shunned
suplements. I have found that when on fairly strict paleo that I
feel more energetic and mentally awake. I also find that
I do not experience panic attacks at all on palo.

Recently, while off paleo, I have started taking minieral and trace mineral
suplements and a multivitimin (Usana's Chelated Minerals and
Mega Antioxidant, with some colodial minerals) and I get the same effect
as a paloe diet: energy, mental awakeness, no panic atacks.

In addition I have had a great decrease in cravings for candy and
food in general. This is described as 'pica' in some books on
minerals, or the lack of trace minerals. I have found that more than a few
weeks on paloe and I get extreme cravings for other foods. With the mineral
suplements I do not.

Now the theory part:
It seems that even on a paloe diet with modern foods, trace elements are
missing. Even though I have considered suplements unnecessary and
non-paleo, it looks like they are necessary.

Several of my children have also seen the same efects since taking suplements.
