One thing I've thought about God is that, like playing chess, there are
things He "cannot" do before His winning play is fulfilled. Now it could be
that, if He wanted to, He could knock or move the pieces around so our
prayers could be answered immediately, but, according to His nature and
rules, He "cannot" do this. so maybe, in a sense, there are many good
things He wants to do, but He uses our language and says, "I want to, but I
can't do that right now!"

One thing that made me think of this is an encounter a friend of mine had
with The Lord: She was feeling depressed, and longing for me to receive my
eyesight, here and now. I told her that God cares. Later, I asked her if
it would help if I told her that, so I said it again. Suddenly, she felt at
peace, and she saw Jesus standing with tears streaming down His face. She
went up to Him and embraced Him. He spoke no words, but in His eyes she
read, "I want to, but I can't do it right now!"
