Strike up the band and play a tune
To celebrate this day in June.
The twenty-fourth, come rain, come shine,
Finds everyone in spirits fine.
It's a no-brainer, and no challenger--
We have to celebrate Ms. Ballinger.
She's seated here without a care-o,
Decked in her far-too-large sombrero.
The mayor's passing out the steak
And fries, and then the birthday cake.
there's presents too for all to see--
She's opening them 'neath a tree.
There's iced tea and there's lemonade,
And soda pop served in the shade.
To end the day, there is no ration
On fellowship and conversation.
And topping off its concert numbers,
Before we send kids to their slumbers,
The band provides an encore strong:
Five verses of the Birthday Song.
We can't go home yet to our dreams,
For there are (count them) eight ice creams.
The mayor in stentorian tones
Is calling all for ice cream cones.
No one is anxious of the time.
We hear the children shout this rhyme:
Eat them neatly--eat them messily--
We're having ice cream cones with Cecily.
Happy Birthday, and many many happy returns of the day.
