Deb,

Perhaps he hasn't really read the Scriptures and let the Word of God dwell
in Him richly either.  Your church folk can probably help more than I can
writing to you.  Again, if he knew and understood the Scripture, he would
understand too the wonder of the fact that we are saved through grace, a
gift of God, and that we can't do anything to earn that salvation.

What about praying and reading together?  Would he be keen for this?

There's more to this topic and I'm not really awake enough to think more
clearly, but I'll send this to the list and not just to you personally so
that others may chime in here . . ..

Take care - and just pray for Gene because God always finishes the work He
begins, however small a beginning there seems to be!
