A First for Everything

And as it was in the days of Noah, so it will be also in the days of the
Son of Man.
Luke 17:26

Recommended Reading
Genesis 6:1-8

There have been many "firsts" - the first printing press, the first
airplane, the first automobile, the first antibiotic, the first artificial
heart, the
first computer - and there are more firsts to come. Whenever someone
attempts something that has never been done, there are naysayers. Like in
Noah's day
when he built an ark in anticipation of rains that would flood the earth.
After all, it had never rained on planet earth (Genesis 2:5).

In the history of mankind, no one has ever come to planet earth from
heaven. That's why many scoff at the idea of Jesus Christ returning to
earth at the
end of this age: "It's never happened in the past, therefore it won't
happen in the future." That's what they said about Noah and his rain - but
the rains
came and those with hard hearts perished. Jesus said that the days before
His return would be like the days of Noah - many people doubting what was
promised,
not believing a "first" would happen. Don't be a naysayer as in Noah's day.
You could be there when Jesus' "first" actually happens.

Credibility increases predictability. In Jesus' case, that means His return
is a sure thing.

Has not our Lord Jesus carried up our flesh into heaven and shall He not
return? We know that He shall return.
John Knox
