Hi Guys,
Today, wwe had what we call a spirit led worship service, but, I suppose,
to be more accurate, it is more like a Quaker form of worship
service. Hopefully, all of our worship services are spirit led, but on
days like today, instead of Greg bringing a sermon, we let the people talk
about what the Lord is doing in their lives. The worship is always
interesting when this happens and we never know what to expect, but today,
we, meaning my family, was very blessed.
A few years ago, I sent some messages to Echurch describing the struggle
that we have been having with the former pastor of this church. He just
had a very hard time letting go of his pulpit and has had a very bitter
struggle sence is retirement in 1992. \
Well, His daughtre has become a mmissionary, along with her husband and,
while they are home in the states, they have chosen to make our church
their home. They really feel the spirit in our church. Her father
worships elsewhere.
Well, during the sharing part of the service, we had a few interesting
items and then, this lady's husband stood up and talked about the
importance of praying for the pastor. Greg and I had shared with them
privately what has been going on with Chris. He didn't mention that
specifically, he just encouraged us to pray and then he encouraged
everybody to come down and lay hands on us and pray, spontaneously for our
family. While this was going on, at one point, while it was quiet, I said,
"Lord, we pray for the one who is not here." It was like a dam
broke. Everybody started crying and a lot of prayers went up for
chris. If he just knew how much he is loved and how much people want him
to come home.
The whole rest of the service was very wet. I offered my first prayer
shawl and everybody cried over that and then we prayed for the Dowlings,
the former pastor's daughter and her husband and, Oh wow! It was just such
a moving experience! I wish that you all could have been there with
me. God is moving in such an incredible way in our church! Praise God for
the hope that we can have because of Him! What an amazing God we serve!
God bless,
Kathy
