We invite you to join the Adaptech Research Project Team on the Global
Educators' Network, as we facilitate an online discussion on the issues
around making newly emerging instructional technologies accessible to learners
with disabilities.
We also encourage you to pass this notice on to
folks on your campuses who are involved in technology
integration/implementation.

Dates: March 19 - April 8

With the adoption of new e-learning strategies and instructional
technologies in training and education, one population, learners with
disabilities, are
poised to gain an unprecedented opportunity to have equal access to this
new form of learning. This will only happen if the newly emerging computer
and web-based technologies are designed with accessibility in mind.

Join Dr. Catherine Fichten from Dawson College, and Jennison Asuncion from
Concordia University, both of the Adaptech Research Project
as they discuss the implications of accessible design, proactive policies,
and other issues salient to this important discussion. Both Fichten and
Asuncion, along with fellow researcher Maria Barile, co-authored a pioneering
Canada-wide, empirical study that investigated the use of computer
technologies by close to 1000 college and university students with disabilities.
They'll also discuss their ongoing and related research activities. Whether you
develop, implement or use these technologies in teaching/training, your
input will be invaluable.

Here are instructions for accessing the free asynchronous seminar and
becoming a member of the Global Educators' Network:

A full list of seminar descriptions can be found at
   http://vu.cs.sfu.ca/vu/tlnce/PublicReg/
Click the box beside the "GEN Seminar 16: Support for Students with
Disabilities " seminar, then select the "register" button. (You may need
   to scroll down.)
You will then be led through the process of becoming a GEN member. Make
note of your ID and password. This will give you access to the current
seminar beginning March 19th, as well as read-access to all of the past
   seminars, and general discussion spaces.
