POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT

Special Education / Instructional Technology

The Woodring College of Education at Western Washington University invites
applications for a tenure track assistant professor position contingent upon
budget availability.

Beginning Date:  September 15, 2002; nine month appointment with opportunity
for summer employment

Responsibilities:

·       Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in special education, and
instructional technology to special education students
·       Engage in research/scholarly activities and teach students to do so
·       Participate in service to the profession and University
·       Advise undergraduate and graduate special education students
·       Contribute to collaborative partnerships between university and public
schools/agencies, and inter-departmental projects/programs.
·       Facilitate integration of technology into the Special Education curriculum
·       Facilitate use of technology in the instruction of existing courses
·       Assist faculty in using technology in conducting scholarly and creative
activities


Minimum Qualifications

·       Earned doctorate or ABD by June 2002, in special education with an
emphasis in instructional technology, or instructional technology with
emphasis in special education
·       Minimum three years of successful experience providing instruction or
serving as a technology resource in P-12 schools or related agencies
·       Experience teaching diverse groups of students
·       Demonstrated competency in using technology in research and instruction

Preferred Qualifications
·       Experience teaching instructional technology and special education courses
for undergraduate and graduate students
·       Record of quality research/scholarly activity in special education, and
demonstrated ability to teach students to engage in scholarship
·       Evidence of positive impact on student learning with children and/or
adults
·       Evidence of successful interdisciplinary/interagency collaboration
·       Demonstration of excellent communication and interpersonal skills


Search committee review of credentials will begin January 2, 2002 and will
continue until the position is filled.  Salary and rank will be commensurate
with specific qualifications and experience.  Final appointment is subject
to state budget appropriations.  Nominations are accepted.  Applications
