Great questions. Think of the "margin" as the area around a page, or in this
case around the screen. So you can have a margin that places content at a
margin of 10% from the left, right, top or bottom of the screen.

Padding is correct, the space between the border and the text inside the
"box" or border. You can - or should be able to - use the padding inside a
table much like you use cell margins in Word to put space between the
gridlines and the text in a cell...but that is for next week.

Cheers, Karen

Subject: A couple questions for Karen from week 2

Hi:

Because I have zero vision, I am unable to check my understanding of CSS by
trying it and seeing how it looks. Otherwise, I could probably answer my own
questions by trial and error.

You mentioned padding and margins. In my mind, they sound sort of like the
same thing but I guess not.
Here is my guess and you can straighten me out......
I can set up a border. Then the padding will be the space between the border
and the edges of the monitor.
I can also set up margins and that will be the space inside the borders
before the actual text.

It is almost like 2 margins one margin outside the border and the other
inside the border.

Now what of my understanding is wrong and which is correct???

Thanks.

Norm
