Alan,

I usually select the entire work sheet and choose the "auto fit selection"
option to size the columns for optimal screen reader reading. The only
other thing that I can think of is to avoid very large strings of text in a
cell. I also agree with John's point about using blank cells for
formatting. It is difficult to tell where the next item is specially when
it appears after a series of blank cells.
