Hi,

My name is Starr and I hope I'm getting this right. I've never participated
on a list serve before.

I've been watching with interest the discussion regarding the glove as a
mechanism for communication.

I am legally blind and work for a not-for-profit agency which provides
rehabilitation services for people who have visual or hearing impairments.

The "typewriter" with a display that you envision is already on the market.
Using a regular TTY, a display is attached (similar to the stock market
ticker) that displays the conversation. We use it here for hard-of-hearing
individuals who do not use sign language and can't read lips. One of our
staff used it just yesterday for a consumer who had a doctor's appointment.

Is this any help?

Starr
