Simple Multimedia using PowerPoint, Lecshare Wizard and Camtasia a 4-part
fee-based series
This series will include hands-on exercises both during the Webinar and
during the week
Thur. Dec. 13, 20 and Thur. Jan 10, 17
Times: 11 AM Pacific, Noon Mountain, 1 PM Central and 2 PM Eastern Standard
Presenters: Norman Coombs and Marisol Miranda - Both from EASI
Yes we start with 2 Webinars in December and then finish the series in
2013. This is for faculty and for adaptive specialists who do not have
skills in using multimedia authoring tools yet would like to be able to
create multimedia that is accessible and is simple to create.
It is part of the EASI fee-based Webinars. There are scholarships available!!
EASI Annual Members have free access to this and should register from the
special page for members.
Note this series involves your doing hands-on work....learning by doing!!!
Multimedia presentations can be created with expensive and sophisticated
equipment and applications. EASI likes to demonstrate ways to produce
quality output and do so mainly using tools you already use or tools that
rely on wizards and interfaces that are friendly and similar to other
applications you already know. Each Webinar will both demonstrate
techniques and will expect participants to open another window and actually
make it a hands-on activity.
This series will start by using PowerPoint and adding narration to it. It
will also acquaint you with a tool that simplifies listening to spoken
audio and create a transcript of it. The series will demonstrate how to
take the Narrated PowerPoint with its transcription and using the Lecshare
wizard create both a captioned sequence of Webpages with audio and a
captioned movie. Third, it will start with these same ingredients and
create a professional captioned movie using Camtasia. The Webinar will
require only the trial version of Camtasia and will not go into its full
potential.
Week 1 Dec. 13: Narrated PowerPoint and Express Scribe:
The presenter will both demonstrate how to narrate a PowerPoint and provide
time for Webinar participants to actually make a narrated PowerPoint.
The Webinar will also introduce Express Scribe which is a simple
application that facilitates listening to spoken audio and then
transcribing it.
Week 2 Dec. 20: Introducing the Lecshare Pro Wizard :
The presentation will demonstrate using this wizard to transform a
PowerPoint into both a sequence of captioned multimedia Web pages and also
a captioned movie based on that same PowerPoint.
Participants will follow the presentation in a second window and actually
create what is being described.
Week 3 Jan. 10: Introducing Camtasia:
The presentation will demonstrate importing the previous PowerPoint, audio
and transcription and produce a professional quality captioned movie. (It
will not utilize the other rich and powerful features in Camtasia.
Again, participants will follow the presentation and create a finished
movie during the Webinar.
Week 4 Jan 17: will be an open discussion among the participants
Participants can ask questions; share experiences and make comments. This
Webinar's purpose is to give everyone an opportunity to ask for help and be
sure they actually were able to do the hands-on work.
Note: The series assumes participants already have access to PowerPoint
or something similar. Participants will need to download demonstration
versions of these 3 applications:
Express Scribe
Lecshare Pro
Camtasia
People who register will get links for these 3 software applications plus
other materials to assist each person in actually using the hands-on
Webinars to produce quality multimedia.
