JOB DESCRIPTION: NCAM's mission is to expand access to present and
future media for people with disabilities; to explore how existing
access technologies may benefit other populations; to represent its
constituents in the industry, policy and legislatives circles; and to
provide access to educational and media technologies for special needs
students. NCAM's Strategic Partnership program works with companies
that develop rich media, convergent media, Internet content, software
and hardware, eBooks and other technologies. The program generates a
reliable funding stream while influencing the accessibility of media
products and services in the mainstream marketplace.

The Technology Manager manages the development and delivery of
technology services to NCAM’s Strategic Partners which is a collection
of major corporations and government agencies. This position manages
the technology activities of various projects within NCAM, WGBH, and
externally for development of products, processes and delivery of
services. The Technology Manager provides client services, helps
coordinate staff workload, and participates in strategic partnership
projects to serve client accessibility concerns effectively and
appropriately. In addition, the Technology Manager assists in the
development of new funding sources for the Strategic Partners program
under the direction of the Director of Strategic Partnerships and
Director of NCAM. This position participates in the development of new
product and service ideas, creation of business plans and in the
bringing of products and services to market.

Candidates for this position must have experience in the development of
accessible technologies (including web sites and software applications)
and an understanding of the full range of specialized assistive
technologies and how they are used by disabled users. Candidates for
this position must be adept in client communications (including written
and verbal presentation capabilities) entrepreneurial zeal, and proven
leadership experience evidenced by a record of overseeing multiple
ongoing client engagements, associated revenue, and staff on a
day-to-day basis. The Technology Manager is responsible for maintaining
a working environment that leverages the potential and diversity of the
department's entire staff.

EXPERIENCE: Minimum of two years experience using assistive technology
or developing accessible websites or software applications. Experience
in client communications, presentations, and managing multiple
projects.

SKILLS: Strong oral and written communication skills. Knowledge of
accessibility features and capabilities of web authoring tools, and
major computer software applications and presentation platforms.
Knowledge of XHTML, CSS, JavaScript, Flash Script, Action Script.
Understanding of computer software and hardware. Knowledge of
technology access issues for people with disabilities. Knowledge of
Section 508 standards and W3C guidelines.

EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree or higher.
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
*	Manage the delivery of advisory services to NCAM’s Strategic Partners
program.
*	Develop processes and protocols for effective and streamlined
delivery and tracking of services for NCAM's strategic partners.
*	Participate in research efforts in the area of accessible
technologies and in development related to client services.
*	Assist the Director of Strategic Partnerships in developing and
presenting new client proposals.
*	Develop and deliver access training for internal purposes as well as
for client delivery.
*	Assist Director of Strategic Partnerships in supervising staff
involved with Strategic Partners.
*	Stay attuned to opportunities for additional funding sources for the
Strategic Partners program.
*	Report on a regular basis to the Director of Strategic Partners with
focus on client service delivery, staffing, operations, new initiatives
and client concerns.
*	Stay abreast of trends and new developments with various disabled
community groups, accessibility research, and in the technology
industry in general.
*	Attend and present at conferences and events to further the goals of
the Strategic Partnership program, and NCAM as a whole.
*	Manage development and enhancement of NCAM web site.
*	Provide direction and leadership in such a way as to nurture, create
and maintain an environment that is (1) free from discrimination,
intolerance and harassment and (2) provides employees with equal access
to opportunities for growth and advancement including professional
development whenever possible.
*	Perform other duties as assigned.
