Sorry to take awhile with this but we took off for Colorado for a week to
get away from this heat wave we are having in Texas...managed to bring
back some cooler weather!

No one who responded had tried the Miacalcin and Evista combo that my doc
had prescribed so I contacted the National Osteoporosis Foundation and
got a nice reply saying that there is a lack of available data to suggest
that the combination of these two therapies would be more beneficial than
either therapy alone, nor do they know anything about the risk/benefit
profile of taking these two medicines.  So I have decided not to try and
mix them.

Two people mentioned problems with leg cramps/blood clot problems with
the Evista and several suggested I try the new once/week dosage of
Fosomax.  Seems they are having good luck with it...no bad esophageal
problems.

One person wrote that Procter and Gamble is coming out with a new drug
that works as well as Fosomax but without the esophageal problems, but
she/he could not remember the name of the product...I wasn't able to find
anything on it when I checked the latest meds that are on trial.

Several people responded that they have had good results with the
Miacalcin after taking it for 3 years...no additional bone loss and some
improvement in rebuilding.  One person reported having nosebleeds.  One
person takes a combination of Miacalcin and DHEA that seems to work for
her.  I took Miacalcin a little over 2 years ago but had to stop because
of nosebleeds and severe irritation of one nostril...but my ENT doc says
that is all cleared up now and it wouldn't hurt to try again.

Because of my previous problems with the Miacalcin and because the NOF
did NOT recommend mixing it and the Evista I have decided to stick with
the Evista only until my next appointment, at which time I will ask my
doctor about the new once or twice a week dosages of Fosomax .
