A couple of points or questions about coffee sparked by a recent summary...

>"...if you are grinding the coffee beans yourself, then you know it
>is pure coffee, however if you are purchasing ground coffee, be aware
>that some coffee has cereal grains as a flavor enhancer and a filler, so
>you could be getting gluten from the coffee."

Does anybody out there know of a regular coffee (I'm not talking about flavors
here) that they know absolutely without question according to the manufacturer
does this? I must admit I have yet to find one. I've always heard this rumor
but never found it to be true. If somebody can point me to a regular coffee by
brand name that does have this problem, I will be happy to check and then
repost to the list.

>Also teabags are sometimes glued together with wheat paste.

Same with this one. I've checked numerous teas and never found one that uses
wheat paste, primarily I think because it would fall apart in hot water.
Please let me know which brands specifically use wheat paste and I'll double
check and post to the list as a warning.

This one has been checked time and time again and nobody has been able to name
a specific filter that does this. Melitta, the biggest maker of filters in the
world, says its filters are GF. So are those made by Kroger, the
second-largest grocery chain in the U.S. Please send me the name of any brand
filter that you have confirmed has gluten and after checking it I'll post as
warning to people.

If any of these are true I think we need to post specific brands instead of
vague warnings so people know what to avoid. If these are not true, we need to
stop posting them.
