Dear Listmates,

Can anyone tell me whether or not cream of tartar is supposed to have a
bitter taste? If so, I was hoping that someone could help me adjust a
banana bread recipe calling fro 1.25 teaspoons of cream of tartar. The
recipe is from Bette Hagman's first cookbook and the bread comes out great
(in terms of texture, and moistness ) but it has a bitter aftertaste. I
checked all the ingredients that I used and the only one that tasted bitter
was the cream of tartar. If this is the way it tastes naturally, then I
need to change the recipe, because it really ruins the flavor. Thanks for
your help.
