Several of you asked me to share this info as you are going to NYC before we
are. All the replies will not fit into one post, as there is a 220 line limit. I'll send
the balance in another note.

Rissoteria and Sambuca are among our faves. But we also really enjoy Asia de
Cuba (very expensive, but for a special occasion is a treat both in food and
experience), Peter's diner, great for brunch (real family restaurant) and Gus's
(Mediteranean/Greek-cozy, food good and friendly service-make a reservation).

For great BBQ, try Hill Country.

Peter's Gourmet Diner on the Upper East Side is amazing- so many choices,
including pancakes, pastas and sandwiches.

Gus's Place on Bleecker St. in the West Village has fantastic Greek food, a
gluten free menu and a wonderful staff.

Lilli and Loo on 62nd and lexington ave in NYC is great. www.lilliandloo.com

Its an Asian restaurant with a GF menu. Also, Pizzabolla located in
Battery Park City is great. They have GF lasagna, pizza and garlic bread.

NY is the greatest place to eat GF....last time we tried Blue Smoke, which I
read about on CeliacChicks.com blog. It was fantastic. They even have
Redbridge.

we had outstanding meals at Ruby Foo's

I live in NYC and love Risotteria and Sambuca. I also recommend Peter's
Gourmet Diner (inexpensive and they have a huge GF menu), Asia de Cuba
(pricey and family style), and Tini (good pasta). enjoy!

Nicole's Gluten Free Advice to New York City
Upper East Side
Tini's (nice Italian restaurant, more upscale dining good for a Saturday night
dinner. Excellent pasta) - 2nd Avenue and corner of 81st, NE corner
Peter's Diner (gluten free pancakes, french fries and bread) - 1st Ave between
83/84 East side of street
Lumi (Italian restaurant, upscale, good for a romantic dinner, nice upstairs
area that could be rented out for a private party, I've had graduation dinners
here, excellent risotto) - Lex Ave and 70th Street NE corner
Lilli and Loo's - Chinese food, gf menu. Lexington Avenue between 61/62. 2
blocks from Bloomingdales.

Midtown
Hale & Hearty - Many of their soups are gluten free. Ask at the soup counter,
on the back of the card listing the soup it will say if it is gluten free. You can
also e-mail them for the list of soups. There are a few GF salad dressings
however most contain gluten.
Chipotle - supposedly everything other than the burrito and wheat tacos are
gluten free. I get the burrito bowl or corn tacos (the crispy kind)
Jamba Juice - they have a book in the store in the FAQ section they list the
items with gluten there are a few boosts that have gluten but many don't and
for the most part the smoothies without a boost are fine. What a nice summer
treat.
Ruby Foo's Times Square - gluten free menu includes pad thai! - 49th and
Broadway
Asia de Cuba - Madison and 38th. Gluten free menu is very good and exotic.
Note that the food on the GF menu is not on the regular menu.
Tropica - Grand Central, I've never been here but they have a GF menu.

UWS
Sambuca - 72nd Street off of CPW, on the South side of the street - family
style gluten free Italian.
Downtown
Risoterria - well worth the trip!! Out of this world risotto and the bread sticks
are addictive. It's on Bleeker in the West Village, it's not hard to get to from
the NRW.
Bistango - Murray Hill area on 3rd Ave - italian
Mozzarelli's - Pizza place. Best GF pizza in NYC. East 23rd between Park and
Madison. They also sell regular pizza.

Supermarkets
Fairway - has a dedicated GF section, in the store on Bway btwn 73/74 it's
upstairs, there's also one at 125th street all the way on the West side.
Whole Foods - own dedicateed GF bakehouse line, it's near the real bakery in
the store. There's one at Columbus Circle.
Westerley - 8th Avenue and 54 or 55, NW corner. Surprisingly good selection
of GF, there are a lot of things here that you don't see elsewhere
Food Emporium - all over the city, while no GF section, it's a savior sometimes
just being able to go get basic food, there are certain days where I just want
an Amy's microwave meal, many are GF or something basic that would be
tough to get at a restaurant, like apple sauce. Also, many carry the Bell &
Evans GF chicken fingers!
Vitality Health Foods - 1st Ave and 75th - only gf section of a store that I am
aware of on the UES.

Jonathan Waxman's Barbuto on Washington St. and West 12th in
Meatpacking http://www.barbutonyc.com/ (rather known for their
lovely grilled chicken)
Dell'Anima in the West Village is amazing!! http://dellanima.com/
about.html (book ahead for this one!)
August on Bleecker, also in the West Village http://augustny.com/;
I'm partial to this part of New York as all these restaurants are
walking distance from our apartment there...but I wouldn't lead you
in the wrong direction!
I'm going next week and will be eating at all these restaurants....
Oh....one more that is great if you love fish....Mary's Fish Camp
http://www.marysfishcamp.com/marys.html (fun for lunch...lovely fresh
grilled fish and a glass of champagne, what could be better!)...but
also great for dinner!

Have you checked out www.glutenfreerestaurants.org for restaurants in NY?
You might find some additional ones there.
