Dear Celiac Friends,

You may have noticed recently that Reckitt & Colman is now stickering
all tin sizes of Colman's English Mustard (dry) with an alert statement
-- "This product may contain small amounts of wheat flour." This
product is not to be confused with regular Colman's English Mustard sold
in jars. Consumers who have purchased a tin of Colman's English Mustard
can receive a full refund by sending proof-of-purchase (top of the tin)
to Consumer Relations, Attn. Colman's Mustard, P.O. Box 945, Wayne, NJ
07474-0945.

I want to let you know that the possible wheat contamination was brought
to the company's attention by CSA member Diane Craig in CA. Her family
and a couple of other contacts traced their deteriorating health
symptoms to the mustard powder. The company acted responsibly to alert
members of The Food Allergy Network (Houston group is a member) and
CSA. I commend Diane for being persistent with this issue and also
because she did it in a nice way. I believe one person can make a
difference. Take note that her POSITIVE attitude of concern really
worked to effect a good working relationship between the consumer,
company and the FDA. Thanks, Diane!(Read the "end of the story" in the
next issue of CSA's LIFELINE.)"

Sincerely, Janet Rinehart in Houston, CSA/USA President
