I was diagnosed five years ago and I have been on a strict GF diet ever since.

I got the results of a bone density scan yesterday. It's my second scan since being diagnosed. There were two changes since the last time. The osteopenia in my hip socket has improved slightly, but I have new degeneration of my lumbar spine. It was remarkable enough for my doctor to be concerned.

The scan was ordered by my GI doctor (the doctor who diagnosed my CD). He says he doesn't think that the bone degeneration in my spine is related to my CD because I've been GF for so many years and because I've been taking calcium and vitamin D. He wants me to see a rheumatologist.

Wondering if anyone else has been through this -- either with the spine or with degeneration of any other bones. I will summarize.

Thanks,

Richard Paul
Washington, DC
