medical advisor to the Lone Star Ft. Worth/Dallas celiac support groupand
formerly of Baylor University Medical Center. Also, Dr. Fine was an advisor
and presenter to the CSA annual conference held in Dallas a few years ago.
Dr. Fine has been very helpful to his area celiacs, Houston area celiacs and
actually to anyone with celiac problems. Please spread the word about Dr.

Announcement of two new Websites for Information, Consultation, and Medical
Testing by mail for Gluten Sensitivity:

My name is Kenneth Fine, M.D., and I am the Medical Director of the Lone
Star Celiac Support Group of Dallas, Texas, and a long time celiac sprue and
microscopic colitis medical researcher. I have begun two public service
entities.

The first is a Website called Finer Health and Nutrition at the address
www.finerhealth.com containing a wealth of information on celiac sprue and
the closely related syndrome, microscopic colitis. I have made myself
available for consultation by phone for anyone feeling they need guidance
relating to their celiac sprue, microscopic colitis, or for more general and
preventive health-related issues or physical fitness. In addition,
gluten-free dietary consultation with registered dietitians experienced with
gluten-free living also is offered. A live "chat" takes place weekly on
Sundays at 9:00 PM US central time. There are slide shows of medical
information and intestinal biopsy and endoscopy photographs relating to
celiac sprue and microscopic colitis, as well as a very large message board.

To help potential celiacs or their family members in need of testing for
ongoing immunologic reactions to gluten or yeast (and soon, other dietary
sensitivities), I have devised a mechanism for such individuals to be tested
by mail without a blood test or intestinal biopsy. The new test I have
developed is carried out in a specialty laboratory called EnteroLab, and can
determine if an individual is gluten-sensitive and/or is experiencing
malabsorption of dietary nutrients and vitamins. In extensive research
testing, the test has proven to be more sensitive than blood antibody
screening. The testing can be carried for a cost below that of most
commercial laboratories' gluten sensitivity testing panels. Testing for the
HLA genes that predispose to celiac sprue and microscopic colitis also is
available at a relatively low cost; this test can also be carried out by
mail without drawing blood. In this way, all samples can be collected by
individuals in their homes and returned to EnteroLab by overnight mail (in
mailing materials supplied by the laboratory). Tests can be ordered at
www.enterolab.com

Proceeds from the consulting and laboratory testing services will be used to
help fund my medical research, which is being conducted at a new
not-for-profit research institute called the Intestinal Health Institute.
Further details on this research institute are forthcoming.

Thank you for your interest in FinerHealth and Nutrition, and EnteroLab.

My interest is only in helping those who suffer needlessly from gluten and
other food sensitivities.

Sincerely,
Kenneth Fine, M.D.
