Sara's note about wheat having been found in McCann's oats is correct.
The correct reference is:
    Thompson, T.
    New England Journal of Medicine
    vol. 351; number 19; page 2021 November 4, 2004

While some packages of McCann's had acceptable gluten levels in them, 
others were 35 times the upper limit of acceptability (20ppm) for CD 
people.  Tricia's point was that CD people could not rely on any package 
of so-called "commercial oats" being pure.
