Whole Foods Market has a store in Portland. Check their website for
location.

There is a list of support groups in Oregon, including one
in Portland, at

one or more of them may be able to give you some great info.

There is a new Tony Roma's behind Columbia Center there is also an
Outback Steakhous on Canal Drive. There is a Thai Resturant on
Clearwater in Kennewick. Richland Health foods and Highland Health
foods carry a very good selection of Gluten Free items including Amy's
Frozen Food items, Glutano products - they close early on Friday's and
are closed on Saturday's but are open of Sunday's. Fred Meyer's both in
Richland and Kennewick have Nutrition Centers and also carry Gluten free
items. I have found the health food stores carry a better selection.

New Season's Markets have gluten-free items, Nature's Markets have g-f
items and Whole Foods in downtown Portland has items too. McCormick's
restaurants have been knowledgable (depending on the waiter of course)
to help me with dining, they are in Beaverton and have great steak.
Chevy's has been ok in the past (Mexican).

Nature's, also known now as Wild Oats has at least two stores (maybe
three) that I know of in the Vancouver/Portland area. There's also
Trader Joes, and a new one that I think is called New Seasons Market or
something like that. Nature's (Wild Oats) is my favorite. Don't really
eat out much, but Beaches here in Vancouver is very helpful for any
dietary preference, have had good luck there because they try really
hard. Have a great time.

Most restaurants in the Gorge will work with you to ensure GF - we eat
out at
most of them. The brewpubs, such as Big Horse, or pizza places, are the
only
real challenges, but there are many other places to eat. For Mexican,
try
Crazy Pepper in Hood River or Casa El Mirador in The Dalles. For
upscale, we do
very well in Hood River at North Oak Brasserie, Mesquitery, 6th Street
Bistro
and Stonehedge, but really, most all the restaurants here will work with
you if
you explain your needs. In The Dalles, try the Baldwin Saloon. Lyle
Hotel on
the Washington side of the river should be able to work with you, as
well as
Big River Grill and El Rio in Stevenson, Skamania Lodge and North
Bonneville Hot
Springs.

Mother's Market at the east end of Hood River has some GF items,
including
bread - they're a health food/vegan store (closed Saturdays). Fred Meyer
in The
Dalles, and Rosauers in Hood River also carry some GF items. The BEST GF
place
to shop is Nancy's in Canby, southeast of Portland - you should
definitely go
out of your way to shop there, it's worth a special trip.

Hi: Go to Outback Steakhouse web site, they have a gluten free menu,
and a location map. Perhaps there will be one close to where you will
be. I have had excellent luck all over this country eating at Outback
Steakhouses. I have a suggestion tho - print a copy of the menu, take
it with you, and -------ask for the manager--------.

Believe it or not-- the Safeway in Lincoln City has a gluten-free
section.
Also in Linolcn City is an organic grocery. Most of my celiac friends
go
to the Corbett St Fish house. For Mexican some have said Acapulco Gold
in the Multnomah area.

I hope you've already heard about Corbett Fish House in Portland
(503-246-4434). They have a list of GF items on their menu; I was so
pleased and most importantly felt safe that they would accommodate
people
with celiac disease. It's good for their small business, too as they
were
also happy to know that they naturally had GF fish and chips. They told
me
that just a week after visiting their restaurant, they would put up a GF

menu on the Internet athttp://www.corbettfishhouse.com/ourmenu.html
