Since the recipe is Arlene Stetzer's and not mine, I really can't answer. I
agree that it is ambiguous. I haven't made the banana bread in years, but I
probably used average sized ones, increasing the count if they were smaller,
or had shrunk because they were very ripe. It may not matter much.
