Over 10,000 dietitians will be attending the American Dietetic
Association Annual conference in Philadelphia October 19-22. In order to
raise the awareness of celiac disease, the gluten-free diet and
specialty products and resources, several key initiatives are being
undertaken:

Cynthia Kupper, RD, Executive Director of GIG and Dr. Edward Hoffenberg,
MD, University of Colorado School of Medicine wil be presenting a 1.5
hour session called "THE ENDOCRINE CONNECTION TO GLUTEN INTOLERANCE" on
October 22 from 12:30-2:00pm

Shelley Case, RD, Consulting Dietitian and Author of the "GLUTEN-FREE
DIET: A COMPREHENSIVE RESOURCE GUIDE" will be selling her book and
displaying information about celiac disease and resources, including a
promotional bookmark at the Product Market Place (a popular place to buy
new resources produced by dietitians).

The newly formed DIETITIANS IN GLUTEN INTOLERANCE DISEASE GROUP(DIGID)
will be networking and holding meetings to share resources and plan
strategies to educate dietitians about celiac disease and the
gluten-free diet.

A COLORFUL PROMOTIONAL BOOKMARK has been developed again for this year's
conference. One side will feature the celiac seminar on Oct. 22 and the
reverse will be a list of gluten-free companies and resources. The
bookmark will be distributed at Shelley Case's booth in the Product
Market Place on Sunday, Oct. 20. Gluten-free vendors and related
companies will also distribute it in the main exhibit hall Sunday-Tuesday.

Please pass this information along to your local dietitian and encourage
them to attend!
