Thanks everyone for all the responses.  I've done a lot of research on
oatmeal because it's always been something that I loved to eat.  No oatmeal
actually contains gluten, the reason they can't gaurentee that oatmeal is
gluten free is because in the US oatmeal is grown next to wheat fields and is
sometimes processed in factories with wheat. Through that process the oats
can pick up gluten and it causes problems...the actual oats are gluten free.
In Ireland and some other countries they grow their oats and process them
differently, I'm not sure why we don't do it like them but their oats don't
contain traces of wheat.
        My post was that I was getting stomach aches after eating the Irish
oatmeal the first few times I ate it and was wondering why.  I found out that
the stomach pains were caused by all that fiber going into an empty
stomach...which would cause anyone a stomach ache who doesn't eat very much
fiber.  I'm still eat it occasionally and feel fine and have made some
cookies with it...they turned out a little funny looking but taste good.  I
wouldn't eat anything that I thought had gluten in it.  I'm very careful and
my blood tests are normal and when I was diagnosed a year ago my anti body
level was 160.
       15 people said that they eat Mc Cann's Irish oatmeal with no
problem....2 people said they had problems but some people get bothered by
things that are gluten free.  I got it at my local grocery store...it was in
a cylinder can.  Thanks again for all the responses...it made me feel better
hearing that people didn't get symptoms with it.  I also have a very
sensitive stomach and get stomach aches for no reason occasionally.  Good
luck everyone and thank God for oatmeal not grown next to wheat :o)
