Celiac Disease Lectures Offered to Celiac Community -2008-2009 (Beth
Israel Deaconess Medical Center)
Hello,
For the second year, the Celiac Center at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical
Center is offering celiac-related lectures to support groups, hospitals,
clinics and educational institutes that have an interest in spreading
the awareness of celiac disease to its members, clinicians and students.
Melinda Dennis, MS, RD, LDN, Nutrition Coordinator of the Celiac Center,
will be offering 1 - 1.5 hour lectures at approximately 13 different
locations from late October 2008 - October 2009. There will be no charge
to the hosting group or institution other than assistance in
transportation to/from the site (optional, and depending on location).
Preference will be given to northeastern locations due to rising
transportation costs; however, all areas will be considered.
Lecture topics can include, but are not limited to: screening and
diagnosis, associated conditions, complications, gluten free diet
guidelines, nutrient requirements, additional food intolerances and
allergies, traveling, dining out, hidden gluten sources, labeling laws,
support and educational initiatives, and resources.
