Just say "NO" is the best solution - after all, it does affect how we feel
after. I would prefer to pass on the nice-looking-goody today and feel
great tomorrow.

I was at a business dinner and chose my food carefully. It was an
excellent meal and I was full and happy. Somebody said to me "Cathy, I
have never seen you eat anything but fruit!:_)" - my standard lunch. I
laughed but did not explain. Dessert was free to the participants who had
never visited the restaurant - a couple of people were from out of town so
they ordered the most wonderful cakes and passed them around the table for
everyone to sample, several times. They kept insisting that I try some and
I would politely say no, thank you (to no avail) until I said "I can't" - I
think they thought I was on a diet. OK, I wanted a taste and was jealous
but I knew I would suffer later. Went home and had a piece of chocolate
and was happy. I often carry chocolate in my purse to satisfy the desire
to share in desert with others.

Have you noticed that donut shops offer nothing but coffee and tea for CDs?
Have you noticed that most buffet menus are not for us? Most appietizers
are breaded. Most deserts are cakes and pies. Most recipies in magazines
use flour.

I have learned to adjust and truly, it becomes easy to cope if you LIKE
what you can eat.

I now make my own flour (1/3 rice, 1/3 potato, 1/3 tapioca) and keep it in
the flour canister and use it to make gravy, yorkshire pudding etc. for the
whole family and we eat the same and together and everyone is happy (or
doesn't know ie. guests).

The only thing I miss and crave and want (once in a while, maybe every two
months or so) is a big juicy hamburger in a big BUN!!!

Thanks for listening and I LOVE this group - it is my fix for the day, to
read you messages and learn from you and share with you.
Cathy
