Hi All,
I have a wheat allergy so this may not apply to celiacs.  But I
thought you all might find it interesting anyway...

Yesterday I decided to hang some wall paper in my kitchen and last
night I noticed I was starting to have an allergic reaction similar to
my wheat allergy.  Today my kitchen looks great but I am having the
worse reaction I have had in some time.  It is very similar to my
normal reaction (angioedema) except it is more mild but much more wide
spread.  My whole body is covered with swollen patches and every joint
and muscle in my body aches. (Normally I get less spots but they are
more intense)

I was very careful not to touch my face with my sticky hands and I
took a shower as soon as I was done so I am pretty sure I did not
ingest any of the paste.  The only thing I can think of is that I
absorbed it through my skin (my hands are pretty bad)
I have had no trouble in the past handling wheat products.  I still
make sandwiches and pasta for my husband.   I was handling the paste
for a few hours however and it was nice and liquid which might explain
how it absorbed into my skin.

Has anyone else had a similar experience?  Or does anyone know of some
way of hanging paper without using regular wall paper paste ( I have
more paper to hang ).  I think I might be ok if I wear long clothes
and rubber gloves next time.

Also, I wonder if small celiac children might get a reaction from
paste since some young kids will pull at wall paper if it is at all
loose and they tend to put almost anything in their mouth.
