Okay i will try and keep this as short as possible.

I jsut got hoem from the hospital with my 3 year old son so am very sleep
deprived and not all with it so hope this all makes sense.

So Ryan is almost 3 1/2 and was diagnosed with Celiac Disease 18 months
ago and has been on a gluten free diet and doing well.
This past summer he complained of his legs being tired from walking often
and I thought he bruised easily. He was slightly anemic.

He had an endocsopy and saw a hematolgist in october and everythgin looked
good for the most part.

He was low on the lactase enzyme so we took him off lactose and he drank
lactaid milk and seemed to be doing better. The bloodwork for the
hematologist was good and his anemia improved and his hemaglobin was 11.
One thign the hematologist said was one blood marker for inflammation was a
little high?

So now its almost christmas time and Ryan got a stomach bug and then the flu
and was not doign well. He was admitted to the hospital and his bloodwork
was not good.

Platelets were very low- 28
hemoglobin was 8.5 when he was admitted and then dropped to 7.0 the next
day
WBC was high

a CPR (or CRP) was high- (again that referred to inflammation)

they thought maybe luekemia and did a bone marrow test and that was negative

he got a blood tranfusion (almost 1 unit) and the next day after the
tranfusion his hemoglobin was 10.4
and platletes were slowing increasing to 32

oh he also had ithcy hives appear and they come and go .
he is on benadryl for that.

we are at home now and go back to the hematolgist friday to do a blood
workup- CBC.
what other questiosn should i ask or have them test for???

i am thankful he does not have leukemia but still worry somethign else is
wrong with him??
any thoughts or any help woudl be appreciated.

he still has the itchy hives. They come and go- i looked up DM and it
doesnt sound like that.

the doctor said it could all be casues by a bad virus???

but still all summer long he was complainging (intermittantly) abotu his
legs being tired from walking and wanting me to carry him up the stairs
etc...

well i think i covered everything.

sorry for the typos-

thank you,
suzanne
