I've gotten a few responses from people telling me that I don't know how
serious acid reflux is & that I may be promoting something dangerous by
discouraging the use of acid suppression medications. I assure you all
that I do know how serious reflux is, but I also know how dangerous &
unnecessary long term use of acid supressing medications is.
Additionally, I know that this isn't the "Catch 22" situation most people
believe it is. There are safe & effective treatments, even cures for
most cases of acid reflux that don't use acid suppression drugs at all.
There are only a few rare conditions where acid suppression is the
appropriate treatment.
The problem is that most physicians only treat the symptoms of acid
reflux with pills w/o searching for & eliminating the root cause. The
safer & more effective treatments work with the body in a way that
promotes healthy digestion instead of against the body hampering normal
digestion. Few medical doctors know anything about these treatments
because their education is largely funded by pharmaceutical companies who
promote acid suppression meds as the ONLY treatment for reflux & GERD.
It's a sad fact that many physicians rarely look beyond a prescription
pad for solutions. Acid suppression fixes nothing, it only relieves the
symptoms & destroys health in the process. Get a copy of "Why Stomach
Acid is Good for You" by Jonathan Wright MD.

We have Peppermint-Ginger, with Fennel & Anise to relieve this; and,
EZgest which is a plant derived digestive enzyme to prevent the problem
from being more severe. I take it when I am eating Dairy, and then it
doesn't bother me. Most of the time, I try not to eat dairy..but if I am
somewhere and do, taking this helps the side effects I notice with Dairy.
It helps with any kind of digestive problem and relieves the symptoms of
gas, bloating, and feeling full. --Deb
