CURRENT EVENTS:
        The other day, on one of our local Phoenix news stations, there was
a piece of news about a new bakery  for "special"  customers which just
recently opened in town.  Well, needless to say, right away my ears perked
up!  I figured, "Yay! Finally! A Gluten-Free bakery!!!"  (I had visions of
a real, live, local bakery with fattening & delicious bakery goodies lined
up on shelves in the glass display cabinet!!! - Drrooooll!)
        Well, evidently I was barking up the wrong tree!    The special
bakery is for .......DOGS!!! The station shot some footage of the
absolutely yummy looking brownies, cupcakes, birthday cakes, tarts,
canollies, cookies, bagels, and other goodies.  Seriously, we're talking a
complete  full-line bakery here, folks!!!  These bakery items look
appetizing enough for any canine (or human) to drool over.
        Well, seeing all this certainly made me howl  (It was more like a
growl)!!!  A SPECIAL bakery for..... DOGS!!! <<Grrrrrr!>>   AND what are
WE....chopped liver!
         Now...Let's not get too discouraged.  There's always the chance
they'll find a large population of Celiac in dogs...then SURELY we'll see
some gluten-free items at the doggie-bakery, too!!!    Then.... do you
think maybe they (the dogs) would mind sharing a few treats with us?
       Man,  in this dog eat dog world...We Celiacs just don't get no
respect! <g>
