Thank you to everyone who responded to my post requesting information on GF
Antacids. My doctor suggested that I use Nexium and he gave me a number of
samples. I went out to the Nexium website and they clearly list in their FAQ
that it's gluten-free.

Following is a summary of responses:

I use Gaviscom; it's not only an antacid, but works to provide a barrier to
reflux. Works great, never has caused a reaction, and is listed as GF.
############################################
Rolaids are GF
############################################
I have used liquid Gaviscon. In Canada it states on the label that it is
g.f.
############################################
I forgot to mention that I also have GERD, and called and researched the
various meds the doctor suggested: Zantac .." no gluten in formula, but may be
cross contaminated.
Protonix....."gluten free"
Prevaid...."gluten free"
Tums......new"lasting effects mint flavor"
###########################################
Nexium and Prevacid are gluten free. My mom has taken tums for years without
a problem, I have used them too and haven't noticed a problem.
############################################
bromelain - it is a natural digestive enyzme found in pineapple. The bottle
I have says
there is no gluten, from Puritan's Pride.
###########################################
I take Prilosec for GERD, but my problems happen during the day. I get what
feels like spasms in my esophagus. An endo showed ulcers in my esophagus.
Rolaids are GF for acid relief.
#########################################
I take aciphex, works better than the others and none of the side effects.
Protonix made me have a stomach ache and the others wore off.
########################################
For the problem you describe I use a combination of Pepcid AC and
Pepto-Bismol. Both are GF.
########################################
Rolaids. Axid AR. Prilosec OTC. Prevacid. Zantac. I THINK Pepcid AC but you
would have to double check.
########################################
I know that Zantac is gluten-free.
